Simon : Maths.
Wendy : You mean math?
Simon : We say maths.
Wendy : You must mean all the different maths. Because I mean the one basic math.
Simon : Whatever.

Simon : But Wendy, listen to this. He told me making money is easy. He said, "If I buy something for one doller, and sell it for two, I make money from that one per cent difference."

Wendy : One per cent? You mean a hundred per cent.
Simon : Right. The man can't figure a percentage to save his life.
Wendy : Tell me about it. You should see the tip he left me!



He was so mean.
- 여기서의 mean 은 비열한, 사악한을 의미한다.
- mean 의 두가지 뜻은 의미하다와 비열한이다.

sonb
- 잘났다고 주장하는 사람을 의미. 형용사가 아닌 명사이다.
- snobbish

He's not, though.
- 비록 ~ 지만이란 뜻을 의미 = He's not a snob, though.
- but he's not 과 동일

You must mean.
- 여기서의 must는 거의 확실하다는 의미로 추측의 형태를 나타낸다.
- have to 와 같은 뜻의 must 와는 다른 의미.

Whatever.
- 무엇이든 상관없다.

per cent / percentage
- per cent 는 두 단어로 '100 중에서'를 의미. %
- percentage 는 한단어이다.

Tell me about it.
- 내가 그것을 아주 잘 안다라는 뜻의 숙어

say 와 tell
- say 뒤에는 직접 전달할 내용이 나온다.
- Dean says (that0 Anne is great.
- tell 뒤에는 항상 간접 목적어를 사용한다.
- we tell someone something 혹은 someone tells us something 등으로 사용한다.
- Dean tells ms (that) Anne is great
- think 를 사용할수도 있다.
- Dean thinks (that) Kevin's a great guy.

- 종종 own 으로 소유형용사(my, your)를 강조한다.

- 실제의, 실제훈련 이라는 의미의 숙어

many, much
- much : 불가산 명사
- There isn't much work here. There's more work in the north.
- many : 주로 부정문과 의문문에서 복수 가산 명사와 같이 사용
- There aren't many jobs here. There are more jobs in the north.

good at / bad at
- good 과 bad 뒤에는 in 이 아닌 at 을 사용
- I did very well > I did well > I did fairly well > I did badly. > I did very badly.
- I was very good at ... > I was good at ... > I was fairly / pretty good at ... > I was pretty bad at ... > I was very bad at ...
- 임무수행을 나타내는 표현들 위에 표현은 일반적인 평가이며, 아래 표현은 특정한 평가를 말한다.

passing exams
- 전치사 뒤에는 동사의 -ing 형을 사용한다.
- good at passing

It was my best subject.
- It was the subject I performed best in.
- It was my favorite subject = It was the subject I liked best.

I played hooky.
- 부모님의 동의없이 학교에 무단 결석한다는 뜻의 관용어구.

I suppose
- 생각하는 것을 말로 표현할 때 종종 I suppose 로 문장을 시작하거나 끝낸다.



줄거리
Wendy and Simon are talking about their boss. Wendy thought her boss was so mean. But, Simon didn't think so. Simon thought his boss was so good. Although his boss did really badly at university and bad at math, his boss makes a ton of money. On the other hand, they different pronunciation. Wendy says math. But Simon says maths. But they agree that their boss was bad at math.
